Architectural concept with CO₂ binding, SunSquare sun sails & a garden for all – architecture for people, nature & intergenerational living.
Architecture with Sun Sails
This exceptional building project is based on a humanistic architectural concept by JOSEP Architekten, placing dignity, sustainability, and intergenerational living at its core.
The timber house binds a significant amount of CO₂, deliberately avoids sealed surfaces for cars, and instead creates space for people and nature.
A central element of the project is the shared garden area, for which SunSquare developed a custom shading solution:
Two SQS sun sail systems, each with a surface area of 34 m², crafted in radial cut from Orchestra U335 Gypse Pique, were mounted symmetrically along the axis. The inclination of the fabric rolls also follows a parallel alignment – a clear commitment to structural order and aesthetics.
A discreet façade mounting was intentionally chosen to preserve the architectural integrity. Instead of ground screw foundations, wall mounting was used, harmoniously integrating into the overall concept.
A key feature is the independent controllability of the two sails – they can be used individually and offer flexible shading for different times of day and user needs.
This project demonstrates how architecture and technical solutions can work hand in hand – for a livable future built on humanity, experience, and simple principles.
